Film 2012

Okay I'm starting to get the hang of this blogging malarkey you only really care about film reviews or so the statistics say and 24.7% of statistics are true, according to the quick search of the internet. So I will endeavour to bring you more of what you guys and gals truly crave. This is a list of 4 films from the year 2012 that I recommend you give a shot, even if it isn't your scene, you dig?

ted - It's taken me a long time to get around to watching Seth McFarlene's first cinematographic offering. I've been a long time fan of Family Guy (not so much anymore), American Dad & Cleveland Show (just kidding). I can safely say if you enjoy the humour style of these classic cartoons, then you will certainly enjoy this offering. Ted follows the antics of a teddy bear that is wished to life by a small boy and before you think it sounds like a shit children's film. The film focuses on the grown up life of ted, who is a pot smoking, foul mouthed, cocaine snorting, public fucking, and hilariously funny teddy bear. With familiar voices from the cast of family guy and a gay cameo from Ryan Reynolds this film has so much to offer you, while leaving you in familiar established territory from Seth's world famous cartoons.

The Expendables 2 - Where do I start? the only cliché thing this film is missing is a stupid play on the title maybe something like "Live Today, Expendable Tomorrow" you know that kind shit that action movies with stars well past their prime do now days (I don't mean Die Hard honestly). The original cast is back, with the addition of action film greats such a Jean Claude & Chuck Norris. Still packed with the ludicrous and gratuitous violence that makes us testosterone fuelled monkeys go bananas. It seems the second film of what I can see as developing into a great trilogy appears to be lighter tone than the original, frequently taking the piss out of itself, other action films & internet memes. It’s a great story with some great actors and that’s all I can say, why haven't you watched it yet?

The Avengers - I've never been a great fan of Super Hero movies (yeah feel free to leave hate comments below) even though I’d call myself a colossal geek, it’s the only part of geek culture that I don't follow, oh and Star Trek. It’s the first Super Hero film I've watched in several years (apart from Captain America on mute, whilst on a charity bucket collection) and I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised, the film has actually convinced me to watch to watch some more Super Hero movies, exactly what I needed. To be more of a geek, come at me ladies! On a side note Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, I've just jizzed in my pants, what red blooded male wouldn't enjoy Scarlett running around in a catsuit. Here's hoping for a Black Widow movie!

Total Recall - Yeah, I thought it be shit too. Being a big fan of the original, I thought this was going to be you classic modern Hollywood fuck up of a great film. While the film has the same title as the original Arnie classic, the only similarity is the woman with three breasts. The plot is surprisingly well thought out if not a bit predictable with the inevitable showdown at the end. The characters well portrayed and great special effects without being too over the top make this a beautiful film to watch. The best part of this movie is therefore the fact that it didn't try and copy the original and created a great stand alone film, without ruining the classic. So good job guys you surprised me in a good way.

Hopefully this little post will have inspired you to watch these films even if you normally wouldn't lay your hands upon them and for those of you who have seen them, why not again? You know it’s worth it.

Thank Me Later Cheerio

Here I Am Alive

Just gonna drop this here, with most music I usually end up listening to it based on my feelings & thoughts at the the time, but this song is different, it is the most fully encompassing song related to my life, or so I think, enjoy

Have I Lost It?

Loss, the universal constant & inevitability in life. Ben Franklin once said "Nothing is certain but death and taxes" he was wrong, he missed out losing. We are born into this world and we will carve our existence out in an unforgiving world and maybe with a bit of luck will find true happiness, but everyone will eventually die, everyone will pay tax throughout and everyone will lose someone or something that has a greater meaning to them.

Yes I have lost, as I’m sure any of you reading this will have surely lost as well. I've lost lots in my short 24 years on this rock floating in space. More than I ever though I possible could or ever would within the brief spark that we call our lives. I've lost a best friend to a tragic accident, I've lost people I've loved and obsessed over, I've lost my honour, I've lost friends over stupidity, both mine and there's & and I've lost the greatest thing that you can ever lose but I cannot bring myself to think of it, let alone share it with you for fear that the emotions that have been locked down so securely may overwhelm the little of what’s left on my sanity.

I struggle daily with the lost in my life, which isn't great for my future because my grandparents are starting to reach the age when then next time I see them may be the last, which brings me no end of sadness. I always try to see them as much as possible knowing that soon I will be dealing with more loss, which my mental health can ill afford, but this inevitability I must accept because in my life it is one of the three constants that will never change, that I can navigate my existence upon.

For all of you who have and will lose something dear to you I feel for you as it’s an emotion that no-one should have to live through, but alas we must and we must continue to fight, through this life until the final inevitability of death can take you.

Everyone will die, and everyone will lose,
So what you going to do with moments you have before it's you?
It doesn't mean goodbye, It's just a simple truth

Time Flu Past

Apologies Guys, for not get any posts up since the New Year. This has been due to the fact that I managed to contract the influenza virus off someone during the New Years Eve festivities and thus have imposed quarantine upon myself while I've spent many day and night in hot sweats unable to eat & sleep. But I'm back on the mend and my mucus has relatively small quantities of blood in it now, BONUS!  But on a bad note I have lost over half a stone in body weight and a lot of muscle mass through inactivity.

Just to let you guys know I've started working on my New Year’s resolutions and I’m going strong, so hopefully I will be able to achieve them all, which is mega impressive is it not? Anyways I've got a few posts to do before the end on the month so I’ll see you guys again soon and thank you for your continued support/interest.

Arise and be, All that you dreamed

It's the beginning of the year of our lord Jesus Christ 2013 (I've always wanted to say that). So its about high time that I gave myself a few oaths for the year, or in layman's terms New Year resolutions. Hopefully I will achieve them and not be found lacking. Without further ado here is the list or order of likeliness:
  1. Accept any challenge, no matter the odds.
  2. Repent for my past sins so that I may regain my righteous honour and zeal.
  3. Free myself from the chains that bind me, to this abhorrent existence
  4. Suffer not those who choose to forsake me.
  5. Crusade to find a decent, kind hearted woman to uphold my love & affection
